Recording & statistics

Milonga records every evening automatically. While you play, each resolved track is written to a session log, grouped into tandas following the tanda cycle. Afterwards, the Milongas tab lets you browse, tidy up, analyse, and export what you played — no setup required.

The Milongas tab

Open the Milongas tab and pick a session from the list at the top. The currently recording session appears there too, marked ● Live, so you can watch the log grow in real time. Empty sessions (no tandas) are cleaned up automatically.

Each session has two sub-tabs:

  • Tandas — the full track-by-track log, grouped into tandas.
  • Statistics — genre, orchestra, decade, and timing breakdowns.

Right-click a session in the list to rename it, reveal it in Finder / File Explorer, open its containing folder, or delete it. The live session cannot be renamed or deleted while it is still recording.

Editing tandas

The Tandas view is a full editor. You can fix anything the live match got wrong, or build a set list by hand:

  • Reorder tracks by dragging them, and move a track from one tanda to another.
  • Edit a track's metadata (title, orchestra, genre, singers, year, date) by double-clicking it or choosing Edit Metadata….
  • Add, rename, delete, or merge tandas.
  • Mark a track as a cortina — or unmark it.
  • Import audio — drop audio files or whole folders onto the view to add them as tracks; Milonga reads their embedded tags.

Statistics

The Statistics sub-tab summarises the evening with native charts:

Section What it shows
Genre breakdown How the evening split across Tango, Vals, and Milonga.
Top orchestras The orchestras you played the most.
Decade distribution Which eras the recordings came from.
Timing Track and tanda counts, plus average tanda, gap, and cortina lengths.

Exporting a session

With a session selected, use the export buttons to save it in the format you need:

Format Use it for
CSV Open in a spreadsheet for further analysis.
Text A plain, readable set list.
M3U8 A playlist file for media players and archiving.
Report A self-contained HTML page with the full log and statistics — easy to share or keep.

Where sessions are stored

Each session is a separate file. By default new sessions are recorded locally and past sessions are browsed and exported from your Documents/Milonga Sessions folder. You can set a single folder for both in Preferences → General → Session files folder.
